International Patient Access at China's 24 Tier-3A Hospitals (2026)
Published by Chinacare VisitUpdated

Chinacare Visit maintains a public reference index of 24 Tier-3A hospitals across six hub cities — Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Shenyang. This page consolidates the network, the administrative steps an international visitor follows to enter a Chinese hospital, and the non-clinical accompaniment that keeps the process legible. It is a directory, not a ranking: a listing here is not an endorsement, a referral relationship, or a guarantee of acceptance.

How an international visitor enters the system

The administrative route is the same shape in every city, with local variation in the hospital's own counters and systems:

  1. Confirm the department and appointment with the hospital before travelling.
  2. Bring a passport and any prior medical records or reports.
  3. Register at the hospital's international or outpatient registration counter.
  4. Pay the registration fee at the window or a self-service machine.
  5. Proceed to the department and hand records to the clinic staff.

Each hospital in the network has a dedicated reference profile with its own registration, language-support, and accompaniment notes.

Appointment response times

A typical request receives a hospital reply within about 10 working days at a Tier-3A general hospital and about 6 working days at a Tier-3A TCM hospital. Shenzhen and Shenyang sit near those reference values; the other hub cities — Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu — can run several working days longer depending on the department and season.

Required documents for international patients

The standard set is a passport with at least six months' validity plus, when they exist: prior medical records or test reports, imaging files (CT/MRI), a medication list, and a short statement of the visit's purpose. For a general health check-up with no prior records, a passport alone is sufficient.

Language support across the network

Accompaniment is delivered in English, end to end: from arrival at the airport through hospital registration and appointments to the final departure transfer, a Chinacare Visit coordinator carries the language layer and the administrative steps.

Where administrative accompaniment fits

Chinacare Visit is a service organization, not a healthcare provider. It coordinates the administrative steps an international patient would otherwise navigate alone — document translation coordination, registration, queueing, on-site interpretation, and report routing. It does not diagnose, prescribe, recommend treatment, rank hospitals, or guarantee an appointment, admission, or outcome. Clinical decisions remain with the hospital and its medical team.

Methodology and sources

This index reflects the public reference network published on chinacarevisit.com as of October 2026. Hospital tiers follow each hospital's official classification. Prices, schedules, eligibility, and services are time-sensitive and must be rechecked with the responsible authority before travel.
